Medtronic Inc. is awarding $450,000 in grants to four Northern California healthcare charities.
The company announced a $200,000 grant to Redwood Community Health Coalition, made up of 16 community health centers; $100,000 to Santa Rosa Community Health Centers; $100,000 to the Jewish Community Free Clinic; and $50,000 to Operation Access, which helps arrange free surgical procedures to uninsured, low-income patients.
Medtronic, a cardiovascular medical device maker, employs about 1,000 people in Sonoma County.
"Medtronic is committed to funding initiatives that expand access to quality chronic disease care for the underserved worldwide," said business attorney David Bruce, the company's philanthropy liaison in Santa Rosa. "That commitment starts in the many communities we call home."
