A 29-year-old Windsor man has been arrested on suspicion of being the man who slipped into the back seat of a woman's car when she left to go into a Windsor convenience store.
Sonoma County sheriff's deputies announced Friday they arrested Alejandro Cruz-Valdovinos at his workplace on Corby Avenue in Santa Rosa. He was arrested Thursday on a variety of charges in connection with a Nov. 30 incident involving the 53-year-old woman.
The woman told deputies she stopped to make a purchase around 10:30 p.m. at the Quick Shop and Deli on Old Redwood Highway. When she returned to her car and started to drive away, the man confronted her from the back seat, according to the sheriff's department.
The woman ran from the car, screaming, as the man drove off in her vehicle. Deputies found the car parked nearby and abandoned.
Cruz-Valdovinos was booked into Sonoma County Jail on charges of kidnap, burglary, and felony battery. He is being held without bail pending arraignment.
