Napa pedestrian struck by Sonoma County delivery truck

An 88-year-old man in a wheelchair was killed in Napa on Friday when he was run over by a delivery truck of a Rohnert Park grocery company, police said.

Dean Goff of Napa died at the scene of the 10 a.m. accident outside the Red Rock Cafe at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Main Street.

Driver Lyle Salez, 49, of Santa Rosa, had just made a delivery to the restaurant for his employer, Fresh and Frozen Foods Inc. of Rohnert Park, according to Napa police.

Salez was making a left turn out of the restaurant's parking lot onto northbound Main Street when he collided with Goff's electric chair. The driveway crosses a sidewalk in that location.

Goff had driven along the south side of the truck and was trying to cross in front of it when the truck began pulling into the street, police said.

Salez did not show any signs of impairment following the accident, police said.

Witnesses should contact investigating Officer Ken Chapman at kchapman@cityofnapa.org.
