Letter of the Day: Missing the story

 • A sheriff deputy talks on his radio at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colo., on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, where a student shot at least one other student at a Colorado high school Friday before he apparently killed himself, authorities said. The shooter entered Arapahoe High School in a Denver suburb armed with a shotgun and looking for a teacher he identified by name, said Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson. Missing the story

EDITOR: I am curious about how the media is handling this latest school shooting in Colorado only miles from Columbine. The gunman came prepared with enough ammunition to kill dozens of people and was apparently intent on doing so. After the first shot was fired, the armed deputy on campus ran to the sound of the gunfire, and in less than 90 seconds the gunman was dead, with only two injuries. Why was the headline not "Armed policeman on campus stops potential massacre"? Is someone too politically correct to acknowledge that guns also save lives?
