Petaluma police say they are investigating a rash of reports of packages stolen from front porches and vehicles in recent days.

Lt. Tim Lyons said three packages were reported missing from porches in the northeastern part of the city.

Four vehicles were broken into over the weekend and the thieves made off with packages and electronic equipment.

All of the thefts occurred at night and in at least some of the cases, items were taken from unlocked vehicles.

There are no witnesses to the thefts, police say, but they asked residents to be sure to secure cars and packages and to report suspicious-looking people in the vicinity of delivery vehicles.
