Good samaritan rescue Bodega Bay boaters

Coast Guard officials were busy Wednesday afternoon when they were alerted to a stranded 25-foot fishing boat out in Bodega Bay.

The call for help came in around 12:17 p.m. after the boat's engine died, said Petty Officer Jim Stuart. There were three people on board, and everyone was wearing life jackets and was fine, Stuart said.

Stuart sent a boat out to rescue the stranded boaters, but the passengers later called to say they were assisted by a good Samaritan who lent a helping hand.

"The boat's fine," Stuart said. "Couldn't think of a better way to spend our Christmas."
