Fire destroys Windsor mobile home

Fire destroyed a Windsor mobile home Wednesday while its occupants were away at the pool.

The blaze was reported at 5:30 p.m. at Windsor Country Club Estates.

It claimed an older double-wide on Birch Street valued at about $25,000, Central Fire Battalion Chief Joe Giordani said.

No one was injured and the fire was prevented from spreading to neighboring homes, he said.

Its occupants were uninsured, Giordani said.

The cause was under investigation. It was unclear if the fire started inside or outside the home, he said.

Seventeen firefighters from Windsor and neighboring departments responded. The fire was under control by 6:45 p.m.
