Celebrate the longest day of the year

Summer Solstice Celebration: On Saturday, Hanna Winery hosts a celebration of the longest day of the year at its Alexander Valley Tasting Room (9280 Highway 128, Healdsburg) from 5 to 8 p.m.

Third Rail provides live music, Rosso will offer pizza fresh from their mobile oven, there will be a petanque tournament and you'll enjoy wines in a crystal logo glass that you can take home.

Cost is $55 for wine club members and $65 for the general public.

To join in the fun, call 431-4310, ext. 116.

You'll be on your way while there is still plenty of light and time to get to your favorite full-moon viewing spot to watch the rising of the Strawberry Moon.

This year, it is also a supermoon, a term that applies to a full moon that is particularly close to the earth and looks super big.

New Farmers Market Opens: On Sunday at 10 a.m., the West End Farms Market opens on Donahue St., between West 9th and Boyce streets, across from the historic DeTurk Round Barn and Park. It wraps up at 2 p.m.

Opening day will feature a huge array of local produce, with several vendors that do not sell elsewhere.

Look for Handlebar Farms, Tusque Farms, Farm Sinclair, Bloomfield Farm, Harvest Moon Ranch and Twin Palms Ranch.
