Son sought in knife attack on mother

A Sonoma Valley man suspected of slashing his mother's throat with a knife was being sought by deputies Thursday.

Charles Farmer, 37, of Boyes Hot Springs, is suspected in the Wednesday night attack at Acacia Grove Mobile Home Park, Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

Deputies were called at about 7:15 p.m. on a report of an assault. They found a woman with a severe neck laceration and took her to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

An investigation led deputies to believe that Farmer had been in an argument with his mother when he took out a large knife and cut her throat, Crum said.

She was able to get to a bus stop and summon assistance, he said.

Deputies ask anyone with information about Farmer's whereabouts to call the sheriff's dispatcher at 565-2121.
