Fort Bragg police arrest alleged burglars with $10,000 in stolen items

Fort Bragg police have arrested two men suspected of residential burglary and recovered $10,000 in stolen items, Chief Scott J. Mayberry said Friday.

Joseph Anthony Fitch, 30, and Eric Christopher Seale, 37, were booked into the Mendocino County jail Tuesday in connection with thefts last month on North Franklin Street and Woodward Avenue, Mayberry said.

Fitch also was charged with possession of methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia, the chief said.

The arrests came after Fitch's family members came forward and reported that they thought he was stealing items from houses throughout the city and pawning them for money, Mayberry said.

Police searched his South Street apartment and found property from the two houses, Mayberry said. Seale was arrested after Fitch told police of his involvement, the chief said.

Additional items were found at Seale's Cypress Street apartment as well as two other locations, Mayberry said.
