A post-fireworks traffic jam in Healdsburg turned perilous for two people on a motorcycle late Thursday night when they were struck by an SUV driver who apparently was making a U-turn to avoid congestion, police said.
The names of the two motorcycle passengers weren't immediately available on Friday, police Sgt. Nick Castaneda said.
One reportedly suffered multiple fractures, fire personnel said.
The 10:15 p.m. crash occurred on Healdsburg Avenue at Monte Vista Avenue in the minutes after the finales in the firework show down the street at the high school, Castaneda said.
The SUV was northbound at the intersection and apparently made a U-turn in the street to avoid the intersection, hitting the oncoming, southbound motorcycle and ejecting the two riders, Castaneda said.
