The two men arrested in connection with a Hopland armed robbery involving marijuana and a high-speed Highway 101 chase are Stockton residents and remained in custody Sunday at the Mendocino County Jail.

Mendocino County sheriff's officials identified the men as Gregory Ladel Jenkins Jr., 24, and Michael Edwin Steele, 24.

The two allegedly went to a Harrison Street home in Hopland Friday evening and turned a marijuana sale into a robbery when they pulled out handguns and stole the marijuana, officials said.

There were five victims, ages 25 to 53. The robbers also took cellphones and car keys of one of the victims. They left in a black Dodge Challenger.

They attempted to outrun two Cloverdale police officers on a brief chase down Highway 101 that reached speeds of 125 mph, officials said.

The car stopped in Healdsburg and the men ran.

Sonoma County sheriff's deputies arrested Jenkins at about 11 p.m., as he walked along Westside Road.

At about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, deputies stopped two men who were hitchhiking south on Highway 101 near River Road.

One was Steele. He was identified by robbery victims and arrested.

The second man, also from Stockton, was released after deputies determined he wasn't involved.

The two men were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and booked into the Mendocino County Jail. Bail was set at $250,000.
