Cotati police interrupt home burglary

Cotati police were searching for one of two men involved in a residential burglary on the 8000 block of Lund Hill Lane Friday night.

The other suspect was arrested near the scene, police said.

Police received a call at 8:55 a.m. about a burglary in progress from a person inside the home. The resident told the emergency dispatcher that men were trying to enter the house through a back sliding door.

Police arrived within two minutes.

Officer Andrew Lyssand chased down one of the suspects, Salvador Montes, 18, of Santa Rosa, and caught him several houses away, police said. The second suspect was last seen near Jagle and Lund Hill lanes.

Police officers from Rohnert Park and Petaluma and Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies assisted in the search. Several police K-9 units, as well as the Sheriff's Office helicopter, were used to scour the area for an hour and a half, but the suspect was not found.

Police are looking for a Latino man between 18 and 21 years old, 5 foot 10 inches tall, brown hair in a pony tail, 170 pounds, with four dot tattoos under his left eye. He was last seen wearing black shorts and a large white full-length sweater.

Anyone with any additional information is asked to contact Officer Andrew Lyssand at 792-4611 or ALyssand@ci.cotati.ca.us.
