The smell of burning marijuana brought two Mendocino County sheriff's deputies to a parked car where they arrested two people and found guns, drugs and money, sheriff's officials said.
The deputies were on foot patrol around the Black Bart Casino in Willits when the smell led them to Jeremy Cringle and Brenda Wright.
Deputies searched the car and found 37 grams of suspected methamphetamine for sale, two loaded guns and $5,000 in cash as well as drug smoking paraphernalia.
The couple first identified themselves with the names of people they knew, leading to further investigation, Lt. Rusty Noe said.
When deputies got the couple's real names, they learned Cringle, 32, of Arcata was on felony probation from a crime in Humboldt County. Wright, 25, was from McKinleyville.
The couple was booked into Mendocino County Jail, arrested on suspicion of possessing meth for sale, impersonation and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Cringle also was arrested on suspicion of being a felon with a gun.
Their bail was set at $60,000 each, Noe said.
