One of the great pleasures of living near the coast is having plenty of chances to eat fresh crustaceans

It?s time again to tie on a bib and crack some crustaceans for a good cause.

Here are some of the best places in and around Santa Rosa to get your winter fix of fresh crab.

Santa Rosa High School Foundation,

Jan. 23: An all-you-can-eat crab feed with salad, clam chowder, dessert and beer or wine served with dinner. $45. Druid?s Hall, 1101 College Ave. 545-4095; srhsf.org.

Piner High School Crab Feed and Silent Auction, Jan. 29: Doors and a no-host bar open at 5 p.m. for guests to browse the silent auction and raffle items. Dinner at 7 p.m. with crab, salad, bread and dessert followed by a live band and dancing to classic rock music. Proceeds fund Piner High School programs. $40. Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building, 1351 Maple Ave. 836-9735.

Ursuline High School, Jan. 29 and 30: The first night of feasting at the 28th Annual Crab Feed and Auction will be a classic Italian family-style dinner with all-you-can eat fresh Dungeness crab and fixings, fresh pasta, sourdough bread, salad, dessert and complimentary premium wine, plus live and silent auctions and a no-host bar. $25-$50. The second night will have much of the same, but with a San Francisco North Beach epicurean adventure theme, live and silent auctions and dancing till midnight to live music by the ?Cheeseballs.? $100-$1,000.
