Hoping to respond to customer concerns about the new SmartMeter program, PG&E representatives have scheduled two informational meetings this week in Santa Rosa.

The meetings will be held at the PG&E service center at 111 Stony Circle from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.

"PG&E will have a SmartMeter expert available for customers to speak with individually," said Paul Moreno, a utility spokesman.

The company has been criticized for the way it has rolled out the SmartMeters, which it says allow better tracking of energy use. Consumers charged the utility with dodging questions about their safety and effectiveness.
