EDITOR: California American Water Co. has filed an application for a rate increase in Larkfield. The requested rate increase has a compounded total of 45.6 percent for the years 2012 through 2014.
One of the main drivers of the requested increase is $425,000 in lost sales due to conservation. Larkfield residents achieved a reduction of 29 percent in 2009. This is our thanks.
Even without this increase, Larkfield rates are higher than any of the 10 publicly owned water systems in Sonoma County that we surveyed.
A public participation hearing concerning this rate case will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Windsor Town Council Chambers, 9291 Old Redwood Highway. An administrative law judge and a court reporter will be present to hear and record comments by the public.
This will be the only hearing concerning this rate case to be held in Sonoma County. It is important that all Larkfield, Wikiup and Fulton residents take full advantage of this opportunity to be heard.
