A funeral Mass for Evert B. Person, former publisher of The Press Democrat, will be held Monday at Star of the Valley Catholic Church in Oakmont.
Person, who was Sonoma County's foremost philanthropist, died Tuesday of complications from pneumonia at his winter home in the Palm Springs area at age 96.
The Mass will be recited at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, 545 White Oak Drive. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery will be private.

Person, who retired from the newspaper business in 1985, donated about $40 million to the community through two charitable foundations and on his own. Major beneficiaries of his giving were the city of Santa Rosa, Sonoma State University, Sonoma County Museum, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and the Burbank Center for the Arts.
