Two years after 1,600 people turned out at the Wells Fargo Center to protest proposed septic tank regulations, the state is trying again.

On Wednesday, the State Water Resources Board is holding a hearing on revised rules from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at the center.

This time, however, the proposed regulations may be facing less opposition.

The new plan would focus strongest regulations on landowners with systems that are failing or are near polluted waterways, lakes, bays or ponds.
