The 17th annual Bike to Work Day kicks off this morning with those willing to get out of their cars and ride to work assisted by aid stations along the way.
Sonoma County employees will be among those participating and will find an "Energizer Station" at Administration Drive and Ventura Avenue, in the county administration complex, between 6 and 9 a.m. featuring a free hot breakfast, music, giveaways and entry into a drawing for prizes.
The Energizer Station is just one of 30 throughout the county run in conjunction with the Sonoma County Bike Coalition, a local nonprofit organization that promotes bicycling for transportation and recreation.
In Windsor, also from 6 to 9 a.m., the Parks and Recreation Department will provide free drinks, snacks and encouragement at the Town Green and at Raley's market, 8852 Lakewood Drive.
Aid stations can also be found in Cloverdale, Healdsburg and Petaluma. For a complete list of aid stations and a map, see http://bikesonoma.org/Bike2Work.html.
