A Santa Rosa man was given a 15 year prison sentence for his role in a 2008 gang-related kidnapping that led to an execution-style murder at the Sonoma Coast.

Judge Arthur Wick Tuesday sentenced Boonlak Chanpheng, 29, to the 15-year term, saying he was a danger to others if he wasn't put in prison, the District Attorney's Office reported Wednesday.

Victim Vutha Au, 24, was kidnapped March 2, 2008 and taken to Blind Beach near Jenner. He was shot nine times.

In a court hearing in April, Chanpheng pled guilty to his part, including helping coordinate the kidnapping. He said he was acting as a member of the Asian Boyz criminal street gang.

Au had been in a witness protection program stemming from another case involving the Asian Boyz gang.

Another man also pled guilty with Chanpheng in April for his effort in the kidnapping. Tyrone Tay, 29, will be sentenced on Friday.

Four men are scheduled for trial this fall, accused of murdering Au.
