Five arrests in Santa Rosa gang assault

Santa Rosa police arrested five men Tuesday in connection with a gang fight earlier this year on Guerneville Road that injured three people.

Taken into custody were Santa Rosa residents Christian Israel Sotelo, 25; Rudy Flores, 21; Andy Madrigal, 20; Arturo Cortes Arevalo, 22; and Windsor resident Jaime Bermudez Jr., 19.

William James Landrum, 21 of Santa Rosa, was arrested last week on a probation violation.

All were charged with assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem and two gang enhancements.

They were booked into Sonoma County Jail where their bail was set at $150,000 each.

The May 22 fight began in the Safeway parking lot on Marlow Road and continued to a Shell station across the street, Sgt. Ray Navarro said.

A large group confronted the victims with gang slogans and then chased them, stabbing them and hitting them with blunt weapons, Navarro said. The victims suffered head and face injuies and stab wounds.
