Santa Rosa woman accused of stealing $6,000 from man with dementia

A 22-year-old Santa Rosa woman working as an in-home health aide for an elderly man with dementia was arrested on suspicion of stealing money from his bank account, Petaluma police said.

Kirra Beck is suspected of withdrawing about $6,000 from the 89-year-old Petaluma man's account $200 and $300 at a time between April and June, Lt. Tim Lyons said.

Beck was caught on surveillance cameras making 24 withdrawals at ATMs from the account, he said.

The patient's daughter noticed the withdrawals and reported it to Beck's employer, In-Home Care Service, and to his bank. She called police June 21.

Beck was fired, but she visited the man at least once afterward and tried to find out when he had medical appointments, Lyons said.

It wasn unclear if her termination was related to the case, he said.

Officers on Wednesday arrested Beck on suspicion of felony theft from an elderly victim at her home, Lyons said.
