A Sebastopol man was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of drunken driving after he veered off Mill Station Road outside Sebastopol and crashed into a tree and a fence, the CHP said.

Benjamin Kinney, 21, told officers he had swerved to avoid a deer that jumped into the road near Barlow Lane around 12:35 a.m., CHP

Officer Kerri Post said.

But authorities said they found signs of intoxication. Kinney was arrested and bailed out of Sonoma County jail shortly before noon.
