Celebrate harvest at Coppola Winery

Francis Ford Coppola Winery will offer a cornucopia of events to celebrate the harvest season this fall, from dancing to kids' activities.

On Friday nights through Oct. 19 you can enjoy an evening of wine, food and Latin dancing under the stars at the outdoor pavilion. Cost is $20, including dance lessons. Wine and food is available for purchase.

An Italian Harvest Tour will be offered on Sundays through Oct. 14 for those who want to get up close to the juice. The tour includes breakfast on the patio, grape picking, a visit to the crushpad and barrel room, winemaker Q&A and a five-course lunch served with Coppola wines. Cost is $199.

In the restaurant, you can sample Rustic's menu with a four-course tasting menu paired with wines for $79.

Kids can do a smoothie tasting for just $1, while parents taste wine, every Saturday and Sunday. In the tasting room, guests can sample a Fresh-Pressed Wine Tasting of juice from the crushpad.

SANTA ROSA

SRJC Culinary Cafe opens for fall

The Santa Rosa Junior College Culinary Cafe and Bakery has reopened for the fall semester at 1670 Mendocino Ave., across from the main campus.

The Cafe opens for lunch at 11:30 a.m. and serves until 2 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday. The cafe features a weekly menu of seasonal salads, soups, sandwiches, pizzas, entrees and desserts prepared by students.

The SRJC Bakery features freshly baked pastries and award-winning breads made by students. Morning pastries and coffee can be enjoyed in the new dining room from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays through Fridays. Breads, pastries, desserts and take-out items can be purchased until 2 p.m. on those days.

Reservations for lunch can be made at 522-2796. Seniors age 60 and above receive a 15 percent discount each day the cafe is open.

Tours of the new B. Robert Burdo Culinary Arts Center are conducted at 3 p.m. on Tuesdays. To reserve a spot on a tour, call 522-2800.

Chef offers class on wine, food pairing

Bruce Riezenman, executive chef/owner of Park Avenue Catering, will give a class on "How to Make a Good Pairing Great" at 2 p.m. Sunday at Marcucci Farms & Winery in Santa Rosa.

After a vineyard tour, Riezenman will lead the group through a deconstructed food and wine pairing, discussing balancing weights, creating flavor connections and balancing tastes.

Expanded hours at Tierra Vegetables

Tierra Vegetables has expanded the hours of its farmstand at 651 Airport Boulevard.

The new hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The farm grows all of its own vegetables and fruits, from melons to pears, and offers its own line of jams, hot sauces, grits and cornmeal, dried chiles and spice blends.

Trio Brazil plays at Seasons tasting bar

Jazz It Up! with Ami Molinelli's Trio Brazil on Sept. 29th at the Seasons of the Vineyard Tasting Bar & Boutique on the Healdsburg Plaza. The free event is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be Brazilian beats and songs from the Bay Area, as well as plenty of small bites. Wine dinner at sunset at Bedrock

Ever celebrate the autumnal Equinox? Joel Peterson, "The Godfather of Zin," is hosting a wine dinner in his historic Bedrock Vineyard at 776 Madrone Road in Glen Ellen to celebrate it. You'll be able to watch the sunset over Sonoma Mountain from the vantage point of a heritage vineyard with a glass of Bedrock zin in hand. There will be bonfires and sumptuous food. Parducci celebrates 80th anniversary

Parducci Wine Cellars will hold its 80th annniversary Dinner in the Vineyard at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Ukiah winery.

As part of the celebration, Parducci will report plans for a small-production wine crafted from this year's harvest, to mark the winery's 80th vintage.

The dinner will be held at Parducci's Upper Home Ranch Vineyard overlooking the Ukiah Valley. There will be hors d'oeuvres, dinner from the winery gardens and current release wines as well as a rare, vertical flight of the winery's Petit Sirah.

Guests will be joined by winemakers Bob Swaine and Mark Bearman and estate proprietors, the Thornhill Family, who purchased the winery in 2004.

New chef's tasting menu at Nick's Cove

Nick's Cove Restaurant & Oyster Bar is celebrating Executive Chef Austin Perkins's first anniversary with a new Chef's Tasting Menu and Chef's Table dining experience, in addition to the daily menu.

The Chef's Tasting Menu is a five-course menu created by Perkins showcasing fresh, seasonal ingredients. It is available nightly and prepared for the whole table. Cost is $79, plus optional $39 wine pairing.

The Chef's Table offers a Chef's Tasting Menu for parties of six to eight at a table right next to the kitchen, where guests can watch their meal being prepared.

Mount Veeder Wine Tasting

The 13th annual Mount Veeder Appellation Wine Tasting will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at The Hess Collection Winery in Napa.

More than 20, small-production wineries will be pouring wines. Live music, small bites and raffle prizes round out the afternoon.
