U.S. Senate candidate Emken to speak at Republican luncheon in Santa Rosa

Elizabeth Emken, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate running against Dianne Feinstein, will be in Santa Rosa today.

Emken, a former IBM employee, will be a guest at the Santa Rosa Republican Women Federated Luncheon.

The event is at 11:15 a.m. at Fountaingrove Golf & Athletic Club in Santa Rosa. The cost is $30.

Emken emerged from a field of 22 candidates in California's new primary system to square off against Feinstein, a Democrat who was first elected to the Senate in 1992.

Emken graduated from UCLA in 1984 with dual degrees in economics and political science. At Cambridge University, she focused on political and economic issues in China and the Middle East.

Emken, whose son has autism, also is an advocate for the developmentally disabled.
