Seventeen drivers, half with prior drunken driving convictions, went to jail during the weekend following their arrests by CHP officers for suspected drunken driving, the CHP reported.
Driver Ricki Ann Thiele, 44, of Santa Rosa drove away from the scene of a Fulton Road crash Sunday afternoon, CHP Officer Jon Sloat reported.
She was arrested when spotted driving on Green Valley Road in Graton.
Thiele had pulled out in front of another driver to make a U-turn and struck the other vehicle, Sloat said.
The other driver reported the woman in the red Dodge Caliber stopped briefly, got out of her vehicle, but then got back in and left.
Thiele was on probation for a DUI conviction earlier this year. She failed a sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, hit and run and violating her probation.
Nickolas Alan Gordon, 34, of Petaluma was driving in front of a CHP officer at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. They were on the Lakeville Avenue offramp from Highway 101 south, Sloat said.
The officer watched the driver straddle both lanes, enter an intersection on a red light and start into oncoming traffic before he swerved into his lane, Sloat said.
Gordon was stopped and was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. He has been convicted three times of drunken driving cases and faces a felony charge if convicted of a fourth case within 10 years.
