EDITOR: I do not know what Bill Maher said ("Double standard," Letters, Tuesday), but I know what Sarah Palin said about President Barack Obama during her election bid and afterward. Palin's derogatory comments left her open for criticism from the pundits.
Rush Limbaugh's carrying on about a college student being a "slut" was way out of bounds. His statement that she should post sex tapes online was downright perverted. His statements were derogatory to any woman. I hope she uses her law degree, properly, to deal with bullies like Limbaugh.
In the case of Maher vs. Limbaugh, you might say that two wrongs don't make a right. But comparing the two men and their statements is like comparing apples to rotten oranges.
The fact that Limbaugh is on the air still amazes me. His day will come, as it will for all men who think of women in those terms. We vote, we pay taxes, we are smart, and we can do without men like these. There are plenty of good men out there who don't think like these men.
