A man was shot in the stomach on Monday night in the parking lot of a west Santa Rosa apartment complex, police said.
The man, who was not identified, was shot at about 9 p.m. at the Redwood Park Apartments on Piner Road, just west of Marlow Road.
"We got a call of shots fired. We found one male victim," Police Sgt. Dave Linscomb said. "He is being treated at the hospital."
He said he did not know the man's condition.
A large swath of the parking lot in the about 270-unit complex was cordoned off as investigators interviewed witnesses. The police tape stretched into the pool area near the complex's office building.
Linscomb said there was no early indication that the shooting had any connection to the apartment complex.
There was no indication the shooting was gang related, Linscomb said.
It was unclear how many people were involved in the incident.
A man who identified himself as a neighbor said he heard two shots, followed by screams for help. He saw at least two people kicking a man who was on the ground before two more shots rang out.
Police issued an alert for officers countywide to look for a possible suspect vehicle, a 2012 Jeep that was a rental.
