EDITOR: Here is one little point that nobody has picked up on the police and fire pension deal in Santa Rosa. The city is going to give them an 8 percent raise to cover a 9 percent outlay. What has not been mentioned is that the increase in pay to help cover pension contributions will also increase the wages to be factored into their retirement benefits.

These guys will be making around $100,000 a year with this increase, which, given a 90 percent pension as early as age 50, gives them about $720 more a month raise to their pension.

The city sure sold us out and continued the good old boy back room deals.
