Firefighters are battling a blaze between Lower Lake and Hidden Valley Lake at Highway 29 and Murphy Springs Road, authorities said.

The fire is in the area of the Twin Lakes Subdivision, CalFire dispatchers said, and multiple structures are threatened. Firefighting aircraft had been called in.

The fire has burned more than 50 acres and is not contained, authorities said. Highway 29 is closed at Highway 53 and at Highway 29 and Spruce Grove Road.

Radio reports indicated that mandatory evacuations were being ordered, but that could not be confirmed, the CHPsaid.

No further information was immediately available.

In mid-September, the Scotts Fire, one several wildfires to strike the North Coast, burned close to 5,000 acres in the Cow Mountain Area northwest of Lakeport.

It took a week to contain.
