Of the previous 52 teams to take a 2-0 lead in the World Series, 41 have gone on to win the series. That includes the past eight occurrences, and 14 of the past 15. This is the fifth Giants team to grab a 2-0 lead; each of the previous four have emerged victorious.

The Giants have won five consecutive postseason games for the first time in franchise history.

Pablo Sandoval is batting .368 with six home runs and 13 RBIs in 14 postseason games this year.

Madison Bumgarner became the fifth pitcher in World Series history, and the first since Sandy Koufax in 1965, to pitch consecutive games of at least seven scoreless innings, with at least six strikeouts. According to Elias, Bumgarner's 15-inning scoreless streak is tied for fourth-longest in history to start a career.

Marco Scutaro had his 11-game postseason hitting streak snapped; he was 0 for 4.

Game 3 will feature Ryan Vogelsong pitching for the Giants, and Anibal Sanchez for the Tigers.
