Pedestrian hit by van, injured in Clearlake

A pedestrian was seriously injured Thursday when he was struck by a van in Clearlake, according to the Clearlake Police Department.

The man is believed to have been jogging at the time, police said.

He was flown to UC Davis Medical Center, where he underwent surgery, police said. The man's name and current condition were not available Friday.

The victim was struck by a 2005 Kia Sedona near the intersection of Arrowhead Road and Country Club Drive just before 10 a.m., officials said. The van was driven by William Jackson, 63, of Clearlake Park.

Both were traveling east, with the Kia approaching the victim from behind when the collision occurred, police said.

The cause of the collision has yet to be determined but drugs or alcohol were not believed to be a factor.

Jackson was not arrested.
