Sebastopol gas station robber throws money back, flees

A masked man pulled a knife on a Sebastopol gas station clerk early Saturday, took cash from the register, threw back the money and fled on foot.

The assault occurred about 3:20 a.m. at the Fast Gas station at 1080 Gravenstein Highway South, according to Sebastopol Police.

The robber brandished a knife and demanded money. He took $100 from the cash register, ran toward the front door, but then turned around and threw the money at the clerk. He fled by running north along the highway.

Officers searched the area without success.

Police described the man as 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He wore a black mask, black sweatshirt, khaki "carpenter style" pants, black shoes, and white latex gloves.
