A Redwood Valley man struck by a car as he crossed Guerneville Road remained in critical condition Monday in intensive care at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
Robert Brian McKee, 49, was hit at 12:20 a.m. Sunday and suffered life-threatening injuries that included a broken spine and legs as well as head trauma, Santa Rosa police said.
The driver, Christian Pena Ballesteros, 30, of Santa Rosa, drove away but officers found him nearby, police said.
On Monday, police said they were investigating the crash, including if McKee was hit in the crosswalk at Coffey Lane or elsewhere in the road.
Ballesteros was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, driving while under the influence and violation of his probation.
Ballesteros is on probation for a 2011 conviction for felony possession of a deadly weapon and a DUI from 2010. His criminal record also includes several convictions between 2003 and 2010, including misdemeanor obstructing police, felony escape from custody and two domestic violence convictions.
He remained in custody Monday and was scheduled to be arraigned today.
