A 70-year-old Fairfield man was killed Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle traffic collision on Highway 101 just south of Leggett.
The man, whose identity is not being released until his next of kin are notified, was driving northbound on Highway 101 in a grey Ford Taurus at 1:25 p.m., CHP officials said.
A white 2003 Toyota Corolla driven by a still unidentified woman crossed over the asphalt center divide and into the path of the Taurus.
The two cars collided headon and both cars came to rest in the northbound lanes of the highway. The driver was transported to Howard Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.
CHP officials said the man died at the scene. A passenger in the Taurus was taken to Jerold Phelps Hospital in Garberville with moderate injuries.
