Yao Family Wines, the Napa Valley wine company founded by former NBA star Yao Ming, announced its entry into the U.S. wine market following its launch in mainland China.

The company, which debuted in 2011, is distributing two 2009 Napa Valley cabernet sauvignons to U.S. wine shops and restaurants in key markets. Regal Wine Company is distributing the wine in California.

"This has been an exciting year for us," founder Yao Ming said in a statement. "Our goal from the beginning has been to produce wines that showcase Napa Valley quality and represent this amazing wine region."

The suggested retail price of the Yao Ming 2009 Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon is $170 per bottle, while a reserve wine is priced at $625.
