A driver smashed into a power pole off of Silverado Trail in Napa County early Tuesday, knocking the pole and power lines into a lane and forcing the closure of the major route, reported the CHP.

An ambulance was called to the crash at Silverado Trail and Pope Street, but injury details weren't initially available.

A 911 call at 5:23 a.m. reported that a Toyota Camry had knocked down the pole, which was partially blocking a lane.

Silverado Trail runs along the east side of the Napa Valley. It was expected to be closed for hours between Zinfandel Lane and Pope Street, while PG&E crews replace the pole and repair the lines.
