EDITOR: I think the Petaluma City Council members need to mind their own business. They oppose the Rohnert Park casino ("Council seeks halt to RP casino project," April 17), claiming that it will cause traffic problems on Highway 101 after they voted for two major shopping centers that will create more traffic than any casino.
They allowed and are continuing to allow the construction of new housing at Quarry Heights and on Freitas Road. Anyone commuting on Highway 101 southbound has been subjected to the horrendous back-up caused by these additions, yet this doesn't seem to bother them. While they claim to be concerned about traffic, they are willing to overlook it when it is fiscally beneficial to them.
There is also the fact that the casino will generate more income for Sonoma County than all of their projects combined.
