Sebastopol's city manager is leaving after about 3-1/2 years.
Jack Griffin has accepted a job as top administrator of San Marcos in San Diego County.
Griffin was public works director in nearby Chula Vista before becoming Sebastopol city manager in January 2009.
His new position at the helm of the city of 80,000 people comes with a $49,000 raise over his current salary of $140,000.
His last day is May 24.
Sebastopol's city attorney, Larry McLaughlin, will serve as interim city manager, at least through the November elections, Mayor Guy Wilson said. Two councilmembers are up for re-election. The new council will decide how to handle any recruitment.
Wilson said Griffin's move was a "great career opportunity."
"I'm sorry to see him go," Wilson said.
