Driver drops fast food, hits light pole in Rohnert Park

A Rohnert Park man eating while driving spilled his food and smashed into a street light pole — an example of the dangers of distracted driving, reported Rohnert Park police Sunday.

"My fast food fell over and I just leaned over to pick it up," driver Brian Virgin, 30, told officers, police reported.

Officers still are investigating and are hoping to find witnesses to Friday's 9:07 a.m. crash on Enterprise Drive and Seed Farm.

Virgin told officers he'd just bought the food and as he drove the bag fell off the passenger seat.

He leaned down to grab it and his 2000 Ford Expedition left the road and went up onto a sidewalk before hitting the light pole.

The light pole was severely bent, police said.

The driver apparently had minor injuries.
