A missing Timber Cove man was found dead Thursday morning near a creek bed below his Sonoma Coast home, authorities said.

Aron Laventer, 60, had been the subject of a two-day search when a trained dog led a Sonoma County Sheriff's Search and Rescue party to his remains shortly before

10 a.m. Thursday, officials said.

It remained unknown when or how Laventer died, though he appeared to have been exposed to the elements for some time, Sonoma County sheriff's Lt. Steve Brown said.

There were no signs of foul play or obvious indications of the cause of death, Brown said.

Family members reported Laventer missing Tuesday night, saying he'd been uncharacteristically out of touch for several days. No one had seen him since before Thanksgiving, more than a week ago, Brown said.

Laventer's truck remained parked at his Lee Drive home. His personal things -- such as a wallet and keys -- were left in the house, but he was not there.

An autopsy is pending, but would likely be conducted today, Sonoma County coroner's personnel said.
