Petaluma police search for marijuana burglary suspects

Petaluma police were searching for three burglars who broke into a westside home with a marijuana garden and stole plants, a safe and perhaps a gun.

Police Lt. Tim Lyons said the burglars first broke into a car in front of the Lindberg Lane home, off of Lakeville Street. They used the car's garage door opener to get into the garage and home, Lyons said.

Officers, called to the house at about 4:20 p.m. Saturday by witnesses who reported a burglary, found remnants of the marijuana garden in the home.

Witnesses told police several people had been coming and going from the house in the three days before the burglary. No one was at the home when police arrived.

Officers alerted city officials to the indoor garden for possible code violations.

Lyons asked that anyone with information contact Officer Art Farinha at 778-4372.
