Driver hits power pole, flees car near Bloomfield

A hit and run driver crashed into a power pole and fled on Valley Ford Road near Roblar Road early Monday, CHP officials said.

Power lines were hanging over the road when firefighters investigated the crash at about 1:15 a.m. and found a Blue Audi crashed into the pole.

The driver had apparently run off into a field.

Both lanes were blocked because of the hanging wires.

PG&E crews cut power to Bloomfield area residents to de-energize the power lines at about 3 a.m., said Deputy Chief Jeff Poulos with the Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Department.

Officers closed the road until repairs were made.

Officials reopened the road at about 7 a.m. and called for a tow company to remove the Audi.

Power was restored at about 9:45 a.m., Poulos said.

Bloomfield, Valley Ford, Bodega, Two Rock Coast Guard, and Two Rock Volunteer Fire Department fire crews responded to the crash.
