A 21-year-old man was stabbed numerous times in the torso at Santa Rosa Plaza on Thursday in what police described as a fight between two acquaintances.

Police found the victim near the south escalators outside Sears after they converged on the mall at about 2:15 p.m.

The victim, who police did not identify, was conscious when he was taken to a Santa Rosa hospital to be treated. His condition was unknown late Thursday.

Police said the two men exchanged words as they passed one another in the mall. One man hit the other before the second man brought out a knife.

The stabbing victim identified his attacker, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Lisa Banayat said.

Police arrested 22-year-old Jeremy Hogan of Santa Rosa a short time later on First Street near the mall.

Hogan was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
