Marijuana, handgun found during search of his home

A Santa Rosa man suspected in an October drive-by shooting had 18 pounds of marijuana in his home when he was arrested this week, including some stashed in his son's toy box, police said Friday.

Cesar Castellanos, 29, was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop in connection with an Oct. 10 drive-by shooting in the area of Stony Point Road and Pearblossom Drive.

Police said the shooting, which did not injure anyone, was the result of in-fighting between members of the same gang.

Police searched Castellanos' home on Pearblossom and in addition to the marijuana found a loaded handgun.

He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, shooting at a vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, felony cruelty to a child, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of a controlled substance and gang enhancements.

His bail was set at $1.2 million.
