SONOMA: Design writer visits Chateau Sonoma

Design writer Diane Dorrans Saeks will appear at Chateau Sonoma today to sign copies of her latest book showcasing the lush interiors of San Francisco style maven Ann Getty.

The free reception from 2 to 4 p.m. includes champagne and nibbles.

"Ann Getty Interior Style" is the first compilation of the luxurious interiors from Getty, an influential designer and philanthropist. Saeks offers an insider look at Getty's work, including the residence she shares with her husband, Gordon Getty, and which the pair uses for entertaining and displaying their world-class collection of art and antiques.

SANTA ROSA: Carriage Gift Shop open for holidays

For the garden lover on your Christmas list, the Luther Burbank Home & Gardens has decided to re-open its Carriage Gift Shop for the holidays.

Directions are posted on the front door of the shop to help you get the attention of staff to come around and open up. You can also call ahead at 524-5445 and staff will open just for you.

The shop, which is also open online, features fun T-shirts, caps and tool aprons, among other fun items for gardeners.

Staff will open the shop from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Dec. 22. Located at the corner of Santa Rosa and Sonoma avenues in Santa Rosa. Lutherburbank.org.
