A 21-year old Petaluma man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving late Monday after he crashed into a downtown building, barely missing several people, police said.
Boris E. Rodriguez apparently lost control of the vehicle just before 11:45 p.m. as he sped through a turn from Western Avenue onto Petaluma Boulevard North, Sgt. Ed Crosby said.
Rodriguez' car hit a parked vehicle in front of Gale's Central Club then crashed into the building, grazing one person standing outside the bar and narrowly missing several others, Crosby said.
Rodriguez initially tried to run but was apprehended, Crosby said.
He was arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving, hit and run and narcotics possession as well as violating DUI probation terms from a previous conviction, Crosby said.
Rodriguez was being held Tuesday at the Sonoma Count Jail on $30,000 bail.
The pedestrian reported minor pain but required no medical care, Crosby said.
