Santa Rosa police suspect a local man of shooting several rounds in a west Santa Rosa neighborhood Sunday evening, police said Monday.

An investigation into the 6:50 p.m. gun fire on Westberry Drive led to Lino Hernandez, 26, said Sgt. David Boettger.

Officers arrested the Santa Rosa man, suspecting him of attempted assault with a deadly weapon, illegally firing a gun, being an ex-felon with a gun and for violating his probation.

Officers were called just before 6:50 p.m. to the neighborhood near Dutton and Guerneville roads for gunfire.

They found multiple expended shell casings from a semi-automatic handgun on the ground, Boettger said in a release.

Residents gave officers a description of a car and the possible shooter, who'd left the area.

Officers later found the car and the suspect at a Santa Rosa home.

In the home they found a semi-automatic pistol - determined to be the one used in the shooting.

No one was hit from the shots and officers found no damage to nearby homes, Boettger said.

Hernandez is a known gang member but the motive for the gunfire didn't appear to be gang related and the reason remained under investigation, said police.
