Santa Rosa man stabbed seven times in suspected gang attack

A 19-year-old Santa Rosa gang member stabbed seven times during a confrontation with other gang members was the second such stabbing victim in a week, according to Santa Rosa police.

The victim told officers he'd been walking by himself on Northcoast Street near Stony Point Road Sunday night at about 9:15 p.m. when a car pulled up.

A group of males got out and asked him what gang he claimed before he was assaulted and stabbed repeatedly in his upper body. The victim called 911 at 9:17 p.m.

He was treated for the wounds and released, said Santa Rosa Sgt. Eric Goldschlag, who supervises gang investigations.

Goldschlag said the man belongs to a different gang than his attackers. The injured man told officers he didn't know the people who jumped him.

Police are looking for four or five suspects. There were witnesses to the assault, the sergeant said.

A similar incident, one week earlier in Santa Rosa, involved a victim being stabbed and beaten by seven or eight males in what police believed was a gang attack.

Those males left the scene in a Honda van, police said

On Nov. 17, an 18-year-old told officers he'd been walking in the area of Marble Street and Gardner Avenue, which is south of Sebastopol Road, when the group approached him and asked his gang affiliation.

During the 8 p.m. attack, that victim was stabbed twice in the abdomen, kicked and punched, according to police reports.
